Buffalo Bills. vs. New England Patriots Preview

The Bills and Patriots kickoff their 2003 regular seasons with a matchup against one another at Ralph Wilson Stadium tomorrow afternoon. The Bills (0-0) are coming off a 3-1 preseason record. The Patriots (0-0) are also coming off an even more impressive 4-0 preseason record. Both teams have similiar goals this season and are coming off strong offseasons.

Both the Patriots and Bills have put together a roster that should put both teams in the playoff hunt for the 2003 season.
TEAM BREAKDOWNS
New England Patriots: The Patriots primarly spent the 2003 offseason upgrading their defense. Specifically by signing free agent strong safety Rodney Harrison and linebacker Rosevelt Colvin. They also traded for former Buffalo Bills nose tackle Ted Washington which prompted shifting Pro Bowl defensive tackle Richard Seymour to defensive end. Though they also lost a few key compenents in the secondary by trading free safety TeBucky Jones and releasing former starters, cornerback Otis Smith and strong safety Lawyer Milloy. They used their top draft pick on defensive lineman Ty Warren. On offense the biggest name added was former Bill fullback Larry Centers.

Buffalo Bills: The Bills also spent the offseason looking to upgrade their defense but also made some changes on offense. On defense just this week they added former Patritos safety Lawyer Milloy. They also signed linebackers Takeo Spikes and Jeff Posey as well as defensive tackle Sam Adams. On offense they traded wide receiver Peerless Price to the Atlanta Falcons. Replacing him will be second year receiver Josh Reed. The Bills also traded for tight end Mark Campbell who with free agent signee fullback Sam Gash represent the Bills offensive shift from a run and gun offense to a more power running attack.
