Buffalo Bills vs. Jacksonville Jaguars Preview

The Bills (1-0) visit the Jackonsville Jaguars (0-1) for their first road game of the 2003 tomorrow afternoon. The Bills are coming off a dominating, 31-0, victory over the New England Patriots whereas the Jaguars are coming off a devasting last minute, 24-23, defeat at the hands of the Carolina Panthers.

Both teams have strengths on both sides of the ball that could make this an interesting battle.

TEAM BREAKDOWNS
Jacksonville Jaguars: On defense the Jaguars are lead by free agent signee Hugh Douglas at right defensive end on a very strong defensive line. Douglas averaged over 10 sacks the last three seasons in Philadelphia and has already racked up one in his debut with the Jags last week. On the other end is Tony Brakens, who prior to the last two injury plagued season looked to be one of the better pass rushers in the league when he averaged 10 sacks from 1999-2001. The inside of the defensive line is manned by two former first round picks John Henderson and Marcus Stroud. On offense quarterback Marc Brunell may not be the scrambler he once was but still a strong passer as evident by his completing 23-of-27 passes for 272 yards and two touchdowns Sunday in Jacksonville's 24-23 loss to Carolina despite missing key wide receiver Jimmy Smith who is on league suspension. Runnning back Fred Taylor is an complete back who has the size and speed that he can take the ball to the house from anywhere on the field.

Injuries: PROBABLE: RB Chris Fuamatu-Ma'afala (hamstring); DE Brandon Green (quadricep) LB T.J. Slaughter (ankle); DE Paul Spicer (ankle) QUESTIONABLE: CB James Trapp (ankle) DOUBTFUL: WR Micah Ross (ankle).

Buffalo Bills: The Bills defensive strength is in it's linebackers thanks to free agent signings Takeo Spikes, Jeff Posey and London Fletcher the last two seasons. Defensive Tackles Sam Adams and Pat Williams also man tough pair of run stoppers. Cornerbacks Nate Clements and Antoine Winfield also are a formidable pair of cover corners. On offense Drew Bledsoe mans the show with wide reciever Eric Moulds. Running back Travis Henry is a strong move the chains type runner who compliments the Bills passing attack very well.

Injuries: QUESTIONABLE: WR Sam Aiken (hamstring).
