Sam Gash re-joined the Bills last season after playing for the Baltimore Ravens from 2000 - 2002. He first joined the Bills in 1998 as a free agent from the New England Patriots, who drafted him in 1993 as an 8th round selection from Penn State. In his first tenure with the Bills he made the Prowl in 1998 and 1999. Gash will replace Terrelle Smith in New Orleans who was signed with the Browns earlier this month. Gash will likely be replaced by the Bills with FB Damion Shelton who was signed as a street free agent earlier this offseason but his job is guaranteed as the Bills themselved worked out Terelle themselves. The remaining pool of free agent FBs is limited and the best available would be Colts cap casulity Detron Smith as Patrick Pass, who the team also worked out earlier this offseason, re-signed with the New England Patriots. Smith had been close to signing with the Dolphins prior to them signing former Bill Sammy Morris. Of course the Bills could also look to select a FB in the NFL draft in April.
DaShon Polk joined the Bills out of Arizona as a 7th Round draft pick in 2000. Polk was primarly a special team player in Buffalo. He was also used in goal line defensive packages for the team the last two seasons. He will likely be replaced by third year LB Dominique Stevenson or second year LBs Angelo Crowell or Mario Haggan.
