In a surprising move today, the Buffalo Bills announced they have released WR Bobby Shaw. The release comes after the team cleaned out his locker this morning and told the seven year pro to wait for his release or a trade. Though as the team's deadline struck no trade was made and Shaw was shown the door.

Bobby Shaw joined the Bills last season as a free agent signing from the Jacksonville Jaguars. Shaw had a good year in 2003 with the team when he had career highs with 56 catches and 732 yards receiving, and matched a career high with four touchdowns. His yardage and TD totals placed him second on the team.

However under new head coach Mike Mularkey Shaw's production dropped significantly, as in four games this season he only caught five passes for 59 yards.

The Bills haven't officially announced who would take over Shaw's roster spot but did mention that WR Drew Haddad, currently on the team's eight man practice squad, will get more looks in practice this week. This could mean Haddad could be elevated to the active roster but only time will tell. The release of Shaw will likely also mean increased playing time for second year WR Sam Aiken who had an impressive preseason and had been receiving a lot more playing time this season after only appearing in 5 games as a rookie.
