Bills to add RB Dante Brown

The Bills and RB Dante Brown agreed to the basic terms of a contract yesterday. He is expected to work out the final details and signed soon. Brown's addition could be a tell tale sign of the status of RBs Willis McGahee and Travis Henry.

Dante Brown is a two-year NFL veteran who has spent the past three weeks on Cleveland's practice roster. However prior to that he spent time with Pittsburgh under current Bills head coach Mike Mularkey when he served as the Steelers' offensive coordinator.

The Bills have been quiet in regards to Willis McGahee's status after he hurt his right knee in a 33-17 win at Cincinnati. Meanwhile backup RB Travis Henry has been out of the last four games and has yet to begin practicing after hurting his right leg against the Seahawks last month.

Rookie free agent Shaud Williams replaced McGahee against the Bengals but only mustered 30 yards on Sunday.

Brown was originally signed by Pittsburgh as an undrafted rookie free agent out of the University of Memphis in 2003. He led the Steelers with 106 yards rushing and two touchdowns that preseason.

To make room for Brown the team would likley place long snapper Jon Dorenbos on Injured Reserve. As Dorenbos missed Sunday's game against the Bengals and his replacement Brad Banta performed well and is expected to remain in the same role this weekend. As he told the Buffalo News that he expects to make the trip to San Francisco. "My wife and I had Christmas early last week when I got the call," Banta said. "We decided to celebrate the holiday last week because we're going to be traveling to San Francisco on Christmas Day." Recommended Stories
