Posey was a three-year starter with Buffalo since joining the Bills as a free agent from the Houston Texans in 2003. Converted to linebacker from a Defensive End, he registered 202 tackles, 9.5 sacks and an interception in 48 games.
His release didn't come as a big surprise after he was demoted during spring mini-camps following Crowell's emergence. Crowell impressed many by filling in for Pro Bowl LB Takeo Spikes who missed 14 games with a torn Achillies' heel in 2005. Posey's practice time remained limited during the first nine days of camp.
