Arizona Cardinals
Monday: WR Ed Gant suspended for the first four regular season games by the NFL
for violating the league's policy on performance enhancing drugs.
Comments: Gant is competing for the fourth receiver job, so this suspension
won't help his cause.
Atlanta Falcons
Baltimore Ravens
Monday: Signed fifth-round pick DT Arthur Jones.
Tuesday: Signed S Ken Hamlin.
Wednesday: Agreed to terms on a one-year deal with QB Marc Bulger.
Thursday: Agreed to terms on a one-year deal with CB Walt Harris, agreed to
contract terms with fifth-round pick WR David Reed.
Comments: Jones will likely play DE in Baltimore's 3-4 scheme.
Hamlin will give the team insurance should starting FS Ed Reed have any issues
with his lingering neck problem from previous seasons.
Bulger will assume the No. 2 job. Look for Troy Smith or John Beck to be traded
or released possibly as early as before camps start.
Harris should get a chance to compete for the nickel job in training camp. Reed
figures to compete for the No. 5 WR job.
Buffalo Bills
Friday: Waived UDFA S Brett Johnson.
Carolina Panthers
Tuesday: Signed sixth-round pick QB Tony Pike.
Wednesday: Signed fourth-round pick LB Eric Norwood.
Comments: Pike likely compete for the No. 3 job against Hunter Cantwell.
Norwood projects best at SLB in Carolina's 4-3 defensive scheme or as a
situational pass rusher.
Chicago Bears
Cincinnati Bengals
Tuesday: Waived WR Chris Davis.
Friday: Signed sixth-round pick WR Dezmond Briscoe.
Comments: Briscoe figures to challenge for the fourth or fifth receiver job in
training camp.
Cleveland Browns
Dallas Cowboys
Tuesday: Waived K Connor Hughes, waived CB Marquis Floyd, waived UDFAs WR
Rashaun Greer, TE Nick Tow-Arnett.
Denver Broncos
Detroit Lions
Tuesday: Claimed UDFA LB Lee Campbell off waivers from the New York Giants,
waived UDFA LS Sam Scroggins.
Friday: Waived WR Marko Mitchell, signed fourth-round pick OT Jason Fox.
Comments: Campbell will likely compete for a job in back of second-year MLB
DeAndre Levy. Fox should wind up getting a chance to eventually supplant
long-time starting LT Jeff Backus.
Green Bay Packers
Wednesday: Signed fifth-round pick OL Marshall Newhouse, signed sixth-round
pick RB James Starks, signed seventh-round pick DE E.J. Wilson,
Comments: Newhouse, if he makes the final roster coming out of the preseason,
figures to give the team some badly needed depth at guard. Starks, although he
didn't play in 2009, has a lot of upside and talent, and could seriously
challenge for the No. 2 job against Brandon Jackson. Wilson figures to challenge
for the fourth DE job in training camp.
Houston Texans
Indianapolis Colts
Jacksonville Jaguars
Kansas City Chiefs
Miami Dolphins
Thursday: Signed fourth-round pick LB A.J. Edds.
Friday: Signed fifth-round pick CB Nolan Carroll, signed seventh-round pick LB
Austin Spitler.
Comments: Edds, who is capable of playing inside or outside, was seeing time at
ILB during recent OTA practices. Carroll figures to challenge for the fourth or
fifth cornerback job in training camp. Spitler should get a shot to compete for
the No. 4 ILB job.
Minnesota Vikings
New England Patriots
Wednesday: Re-signed exclusive rights LB Gary Guyton.
Thursday: Waived UDFA RB Pat Paschall.
New Orleans Saints
Monday: Released DE Bobby McCray, waived CB Glenn Sharpe, released WR Roy Hall
from IR with an injury settlement.
Friday: Signed WR Joe Horn.
Comments: McCray was slated to be a backup and was due $3.25 million in total
compensation (base salary and roster bonus), so his job became expendable.
Horn signed a ceremonial one-day contract and will eventually go to the team's
reserve/retirement list.
New York Giants
Monday: Waived P Jy Bond, waived TE Carson Butler, waived UDFA LBs Lee Campbell
and Micah Johnson.
Tuesday: Signed fourth-round pick LB Phillip Dillard, signed sixth-round pick LB
Adrian Tracy.
Wednesday: Signed fifth-round pick G Mitch Petrus,
signed seventh-round pick P Matt Dodge, claimed WR Chris
Davis off waivers from the Cincinnati Bengals.
Thursday: Waived UDFA QB Riley Skinner.
Comments: Dillard, who signed a four-year, $2.28 million deal with just shy of
$493,000 guaranteed, should get a true shot to compete for the starting MLB job in
training camp.
Tracy, who signed a four-year deal worth just over $1.89 million with roughly
$105,000 guaranteed, figures to compete for playing time at SLB.
Petrus, who signed a four-year deal worth roughly $1.98 million with just over
$191,000 guaranteed, because of depth issues, has an excellent chance to make the team coming
out of the preseason.
Dodge,who signed a four-year deal worth $1.85 million with just over $59,000
guaranteed, is expected to handle the punting duties this season. Veteran P Jeff Feagles retired recently and P Jy Bond was waived, paving the way for Dodge to
take over.
A source said no other teams put in a waiver claim for Davis. He could wind up
challenging for a role as a kickoff or punt returner.
New York Jets
Tuesday: Signed fourth-round pick RB Joe McKnight.
Comments: Look for him to be used in a similar fashion to how the coaches used
RB Leon Washington in recent seasons. That's out of the backfield in space.
Oakland Raiders
Philadelphia Eagles
Pittsburgh Steelers
San Diego Chargers
Monday: Waived UDFAs FB Cory Jackson and FB Cory Jackson, waived S Kevin
Ellison, released DT Ian Scott.
Thursday: Signed fourth-round pick S Darrell Stuckey, signed seventh-round pick
TE Dedrick Epps.
Comments: Ellison's release likely is tied to an off-the-field incident from
last month. Stuckey will get a chance to compete for the starting strong safety
job which was vacated when Ellison was waived. Epps is a long-shot to make the
53-man roster coming out of training camp because the team is deep at tight end.
San Francisco 49ers
Seattle Seahawks
Tuesday: Claimed S Kevin Ellison off waivers from the San Diego Chargers, waived
UDFA DE Will Tukuafu.
Thursday: Waived S Kevin Ellison (failed physical), waived UDFA DT Barrett Moen,
signed DT Jonathan Lewis.
Comments: It's not known what the injury was that wound up failing Ellison, but
it's apparent that the Seahawks are looking for help at strong safety.
St. Louis Rams
Monday: Re-signed exclusive rights free agents: OT Ryan Mckee, WR Jordan Kent,
LB Larry Grant.
Tuesday: Re-signed exclusive rights free agents: DE C.J. Ah You, S David Roach.
Wednesday: Re-signed S O.J. Atogwe.
Friday: Placed WR Isaac Bruce on the reserve/retirement list.
Comments: Atogwe, who signed a multi-year deal, didn't receive much interest in
free agency because of his age and because of the seriousness of his shoulder
injury.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Wednesday: Signed C Donovan Raiola, waived C Jeff Tow-Arnett.
Tennessee Titans
Washington Redskins
Monday: Waived/injured WR Marques Hagans.
Tuesday: Placed WR Marques Hagans on IR.
