How Acquired: Drafted by the Patriots in the 2nd round of the 2003 draft (36th overall) out of the University of Illinois.
Pro Career:
(2003-present) New England Patriots: Starting free safety. Spent some time as an extra defensive back while the Patriots juggled the roster due to injuries.
College: Illinois
A three-year starter At Illinois. In 45 games Wilson managed 176 tackles, 1 sack, 11 interceptions and 60 passes defended for his college career. Also saw action as a punt returner, managing a school career-record of 896 yards (9.6 avg.) in 93 punt returns. Was a speech communications major at Illinois
Personal:Born Eugene W. Wilson II, the son of Murlean and Eugene Wilson on Aug. 17, 1980 in Maywood, Ill. Attended Merrillville (Ind.) High. Played multiple positions including; cornerback, running back and wide receiver. Lettered three years in football and four in basketball.
