Jairus Byrd Profile
Jairus Byrd spent Monday in Philadelphia visiting with a doctor that specializes in sports hernias, the Buffalo News reported. The visit was planned before Byrd left Buffalo's 31-10 loss to Houston Sunday with a groin injury, head coach Dick Jauron said.
"It hadn't kept him off the field," Jauron said. "It hadn't really kept him out of practice, but it's been bothering him a little bit. He doesn't feel 100 percent. Now nobody in the league probably does this time of year, but with the situation ... we thought it was in everybody's best interests to get him down there."
Byrd had sports hernia surgery during the summer. This visit was a planned checkup. Nothing related to Sunday's groin injury.
Good news for Buffalo. Byrd has been on a tear in his rookie season. Through half the season, he already has seven interceptions. Jauron added that tackle Jamon Meredith should be out a couple weeks with a sprained knee. Buffalo will play the Tennessee Titans Nov. 15 after the bye week.
