Ellison placed on injured reserve by Tyler Dunne of BuffaloFootballReport.com, November 20, 2009 at 5:57pm ET
Keith Ellison Profile
The Bills placed starting outside linebacker Keith Ellison on injured reserve today and elevated cornerback Cary Harris to the 53-man roster.
Ellison had been out of the lineup since injuring his quadriceps in Buffalo's 31-10 loss to the Houston Texans on Nov. 1. He is the 12th player on the team to be placed on IR, including fellow linebacker Kawika Mitchell. The Bills will also be without starting defensive tackle Marcus Stroud this weekend at Jacksonville. Stroud suffered a knee injury in Buffalo's 41-17 loss last week to the Tennessee Titans. Head coach Perry Fewell said it is a day-to-day situation.
In short, the league's worst rush defense will be further depleted. If Kyle Williams is forced to miss his fourth straight game with a knee injury, the team will have only two DT's on the roster -- Spencer Johnson and John McCargo. Buffalo is allowed a league-worst 173 yards rushing per game.
On tap is Jacksonville's Maurice Jones-Drew, who has 860 yards and 12 scores this season.
